Archery Products: Things You Need to Enjoy the Sport
From being a means of survival in the hunting era of old, hunting has evolved today into a very popular sport
played by millions: archery. Archery is very popular today because it gives people the unique experience of the
suspense-filled hunting activities during the hunting and gathering era. Because of this, there is also a surge
both in the demand and popularity of the numerous archery products that have popped over time. Some of these
products are the necessary equipments in archery while others are there more for the safety of the archer or for
storing the equipments and keeping them safe and protected from the elements.
These are the most common archery products
A. Bow. The bow serves as the launching platform of the arrow. Hence, it must be made of the appropriate
material and must have the durability that will make it withstand continuous usage. The bow may come in
different sizes and weight, any of which is suitable for a particular environment.
B. Bowstring. The bowstring must be of great
flexibility to provide the arrow sufficient force in propelling it to the target. Many elastic materials are
used for making bowstrings, of which the most common are fiber and linen.
C. The target. The target can be improvised and may vary depending on the nature of the game. For 3-D games
and other simulation of real hunting, targets come in animal forms made of fibers or cotton or a combination of
these materials with certain areas painted to allocate points for every hit scored. On the other hand, sporting
competitions like the Olympic Games makes use of a target board, the surface of which is painted with several
layered rings, each with corresponding points.
D. Arrows. Arrows are the bullets in a game of archery. Their construction must ensure durability and make
them withstand repetitive usage. Moreover, it must be of the proper weight so that it will be able to maintain
balance in flight, unhampered by wind and other factors that may alter its trajectory.
A. Chest protector. A chest protector protects the archer's rib area
when drawing back in preparation to launching the arrow. Moreover, it also keeps any loose garment from
touching the bowstring or the arrow, preventing any interference with the motion of releasing the arrow.
B. Bracer or armguard.
The bracer protects the archer's forearm from being scratched by the bowstring after releasing the arrow.
The most commonly used materials for bracers are leather and plastic.

Finger Tab. This is another archery product, whose main purpose is to protect the fingers of the archer
from being hurt once the arrow is released.
D. Quiver. The
quiver is an archery product that serves as the container for the bow. There are several types of quiver,
each with its own purpose: ground quiver, bow quiver, back quiver, and hip quiver. The quiver may be made
from different material, but the purpose remains the same: to keep the bow from being damaged by the
elements, ensuring that it remains in top form.
